Welcome to Holden Village

Over the course of 50 years, Holden Village has been transformed from a copper mining town to a vibrant place of education, programming, and worship. Holden invites people of goodwill of all ages to come and experience our rhythms, which inspire and equip travelers for a sustainable life of faith outside the Village.

Holden Village welcomes and embraces people of all races, ethnicities, religious backgrounds, gender identities, sexual orientations, and abilities. We strive to overcome learned prejudices and develop relationships across difference. We actively seek liberation and transformation through education, relationship, and engagement with the Village’s core values.

Hiking Through Holden?

Holden welcomes backpackers, climbers, and hikers who would like to make Holden a part of their route. Many aspects about this year are different in order for us to remain open in safe and responsible ways.

All hikers must be pre-registered to ride on Holden transportation, and space is limited. Hiker transport will be on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday only through September 30th. Holden offers to-go sack meals for $10 when ordered in advance, ice cream and coffee available for purchase some days, and free drinking water. This fall (beginning September 4), hikers are welcome to book a guest room at Holden for the night, but they must register before arriving in the Village.

Anti-Racism Resources

Now is the time to listen and learn to the lived experience of Black, Indigenous and People of Color. It is also time for Holden to examine its history of privilege. Holden Village is an Educational Retreat Center with ties to the whitest denomination in the US, serving an audience that has been predominantly white. It is Holden's responsibility to bear witness to what is happening in the world, to elevate the voices of Black and Brown people, to change the course of inequities, and to break down structural prejudice in all forms where it exists, within Holden and in white and Christian U.S. culture.
