Snack Bar Assistant

POSTION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Snack Bar Head, operates the Holden Village Snack Bar as a central place of welcome and hospitality for guest and staff.

MAJOR FUNCTIONS

(principal duties and responsibilities; such as categories supported, staff size, volume managed, etc)

  • Work shifts as scheduled by the Snack Bar Head and Food Services Lead.
  • Maintain cleanliness standards in the snack bar; train scooping volunteers in procedures to ensure compliance with sanitation and safety standards.
  • Handle the cash register, ensuring that all customers pay.
  • Work with the Snack Bar Head to keep a current inventory of ice creams, sorbets, sherbet, toppings, and other necessary items; communicate ordering needs to Snack bar; assist Snack Bar Head in receiving orders when they arrive.
  • Serve Holden guests and staff hospitably and with care/grace. Use imagination in “advertising” flavors and special events in the Snack Bar.
  • Work with a diverse range of volunteer staff while promoting a fun and supportive environment.
  • Ensure that the snack bar is clean, sanitary and serves quality products.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to be responsible, self-motivating, and able to work independently.
  • Able to supervise a constantly-changing and diverse pool of guest and staff scooping volunteers.
  • Ability to interact with people of all ages in a hospitable manner.
  • Knowledgeable of sanitation regulations in accordance with the Washington State health department guidelines.
  • Washington State Food Worker’s Card or willingness to obtain this certification.

 

  • This position is open only to working teens aged 13-17. Teens ages 16-17 will work the rest of their hours in beanies or the kitchen.
