Book Talk with Suzanne Crawford O’Brien

October 7 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

School’s back!!!

Hosted by the Holden Village Bookstore, author Suzanne Crawford O’Brien welcomes all to this virtual learning session on her book, Climate Anxiety and Spiritual Resilience. In the Holden context, where human life in the village is intricately bound to the realities of the natural world, Crawford O’Brien’s work is an informed, hopeful asset to our understanding of these times.

Bringing climate psychology into conversation with Indigenous and religious traditions, Climate Anxiety and Spiritual Resilience offers a framework for moving beyond paralysis, and toward resilient, justice-centered engagement. Exploring comparative approaches to contemplation, lament, storytelling, and justice, Crawford O’Brien considers how the stories we choose can help us build the world we want.

Emphasizing hope without denial and action without burnout, this book offers spiritual resources for transforming grief into courage, solidarity, and sustained engagement for ecological justice.

Suzanne Crawford O’Brien is professor of religion and culture and affiliated faculty in Native American studies and environmental studies at Pacific Lutheran University.
