POSTION SUMMARY

The Downlake Assistant provides support in the care and operations of Holden Village properties located on the south shore of Lake Chelan. This includes day-to-day operations and maintenance of the facilities for Field’s Point Landing, a U.S. Forest Service facility that is a public entry point on Lake Chelan and also that of Holden Village’s Bed & Breakfast three miles up lake from Field’s Point Landing. This is a part-time, year round position.

MAJOR FUNCTIONS

(principal duties and responsibilities; such as categories supported, staff size, volume managed, etc)

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • At Field’s Point clean office and restrooms, pick up trash, sweep, rake, remove
    snow, and perform other general maintenance and upkeep tasks
  • Provide coverage for the Field’s Point office; collect parking fees, issue parking
    passes, sell snacks and merchandise, and open and close the gate based on
    daily schedule
  • Greet visitors to facilities and offer information and assistance in a courteous,
    customer-friendly, helpful manner
  • Provide repair & maintenance, lawn and garden care for three Holden properties
    located 3-1/2 miles up lake from Field’s Point Landing
  • At Holden Village Bed & Breakfast assist with breakfast, cleaning rooms, laundry,
    and prep for arriving guests

UNIQUE REQUIREMENTS

(particular knowledge/skills related to client and/or agency needs)

  • Must be a Washington resident with a valid Washington driver’s license with good driving record
  • A personal car is necessary as this location is twenty miles outside of Chelan, and there is no public transport available
  • Must abide by applicable provisions (those not specific to living in the Village) of the Holden Village Employee Handbook
  • Ensure that Holden’s policies of boundary awareness, harassment and discrimination prevention are adhered to
  • Commitment to Holden Village’s mission and purpose as down lake properties are an extension of the Village

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

Specific knowledge and skills include but are not limited to the following:

  • Trustworthy and accurate in handling cash and credit cards
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Good computer skills
  • Physical stamina
  • Ability to work comfortably with power tools and do wide variety of general repair & maintenance
  • Proficient operating a riding lawn mower, snow plow, and other grounds maintenance equipment
  • Demonstrated customer service and hospitality mind-set
  • Desire to learn and solution oriented

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Hourly, minimum wage of $16.28
  • 3 nights at Holden Village per year including boat tickets during non-peak season as
    space is available.

Education

Holden Village is a community where your questions are valued and encouraged. Most programs led by visiting teaching faculty occur during the summer months. However, Holden also invites faculty to teach sessions for special events and retreats throughout the rest of the year.
