The Trinity Conversation: “Calling and Place” with Bjørn Peterson

Trinity Education Foundation is excited to announce the launch of The Trinity Conversation: a public forum exploring calling, community, and care for creation!
The inaugural conversation features Holden Village co-executive director Bjørn Peterson, PhD, sharing reflections on “Calling and Place.”
Dr. Bjørn Peterson is a practitioner of Transformational Leadership with 25+ years experience leading Community Development and Social Transformation. From peacebuilding in urban communities to managing climate-driven evacuations in the wilderness to designing programming for personal and social transformation, he is known for his ability to create welcoming environments, hold courageous spaces, and accompany difficult work. He earned an MA in Transformational Leadership at Seattle University and holds a PhD in Community Development from Arizona State University.
As Co-Executive Director of Holden Village with his spouse, Elise, the Petersons oversee Holden Village’s daily operations, programming, community engagement, and fundraising efforts while upholding the Village’s core values of hospitality, faith, and environmental stewardship. Their leadership marks an exciting new era for Holden Village as it continues to provide a space for retreat, renewal, and radical welcome.
Bjørn and Elise are currently leading Holden Village through an unprecedented season. Mudslides in December 2025 washed out Holden’s only access road, leading to the emergency evacuation of the staff and an uncertain timeline for the Village’s reopening. Their calling has shifted to leading “Holden Off the Road” while also sustaining the physical and organizational infrastructure and laying groundwork for the future. This is not the calling they expected, but (as Holden’s famous prayer says) they continue to live into their calling in faith, while finding “good courage” in “ventures of which we cannot see the ending, by paths as yet untrodden, through perils unknown.”
Heavy hors d’oeuvres and refreshments provided. Space is limited. Please visit the Trinity Conversation registration page to learn more about event details, and to purchase your ticket.
