MODE OF TRANSPORTATION

By Car Then Boat

Holden Village is located in the heart of Washington’s North Cascades Mountains near the beautiful Glacier Peak Wilderness, On this page, you will find more information about how you can get there by car, then boat. Start planning your visit today and make a reservation if you haven’t already.

Step 1: Travel to the Boat Dock

If you are traveling in your own car or renting one from an airport, you will travel to either:

We recommend that you park at Field’s Point Landing, which is supervised by Holden Village staff members and includes restrooms and limited concessions.

Plan to arrive 30 to 40 minutes before the boat departure time so you have time to take your luggage to the dock, pay for a parking permit, and park your car.

Travel Tip: The boat to Holden leaves early in the morning, most people arrive in Chelan or Wenatchee and find overnight lodging a day prior to their arrival in the Village. The Holden Bed & Breakfast offers comfortable accommodations and is a great nearby option.

Step 2: Pay for Parking

Once you arrive at the boat dock, find a parking spot and make your way inside to pay for parking.

Then, double check that you have everything you need from your car, and make your way down to the dock to await the next portion of your journey!

Rates for Parking at Fields Point Landing

1-4 nights $9.00 per night
5-7 nights $45.00 total
Please email fieldspoint@holdenvillage.org for a complete list of rates.

All Holden Village volunteers and employees receive free parking at Fields Point. Simply stop in at the office to receive your parking pass.

Step 3: Enjoy the Boatride

For the next phase of your adventure to Holden Village, you will board the ferry and enjoy a scenic 2-4 hour boat ride up Lake Chelan, enjoying beautiful surroundings and potential wildlife sightings along the way!

Please book your own boat tickets! There are two boat company options:
Lake Chelan Boat Company
Stehekin Ferry

We highly recommend that you book your tickets far in advance. Note that Holden transport does not meet the boat every day that the boat operates, so please be sure to plan your visit according to Holden transport dates. View Seasonal Transport Schedules for Arriving and Departing the Village for more details.

Holden Village transport schedule aligns with the Lake Chelan Boat Company’s Lady of the Lake on days when it runs, and with the Lady Express the other days. We only run one transport per day. A separate boat company, the Stehekin Ferry, may also be an option for your departure – please see our Seasonal Transportation Schedule.

View the Lake Chelan Boat Company website for schedule details. Select “Up one day and back on a different day” to book uplake tickets for the day of your arrival to the Village and downlake tickets for the day of your departure from Holden Village. When the boat reservation form asks you “Where would you like to be dropped off?” for your uplake trip, select “Lucerne/Holden Village.” After adding your uplake trip to your cart, you will be prompted to book your downlake trip to return to the dock where you parked your car.

Clearly label all of your luggage with your name and destination, Holden Village. Holden Village luggage tags are available in the Fields Point Concessions office.

Step 4: Last Step in the Journey - The Bus Ride to Holden Village

Once you get off the boat, a Holden Village bus will take you the rest of the way. Our friendly staff will meet you at the boat dock and will help you get settled into your bus seats. This part of the journey takes roughly 30-40 minutes.
