Brian Buchanan

Dr. Brian Buchanan conducts research in hydrology and water resource management. He has a PhD from the Natural Resources Department at Cornell University in 2013, and he currently works as a hydrologist at Northern Hydrology Engineering, in Humboldt County, CA. His professional research interests focus on sustainable water resource management, geospatial analyses, ecology, and stream restoration. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, fly-fishing, sailing, bird watching, guitar and painting.

SESSION DESCRIPTION

We will have two sessions to discuss major threats to freshwater resources – climate change and stream fragmentation. Then we will have two sessions to learn about how to assess the health of a stream – one in the classroom, and one at Railroad Creek, where we will look at the freshwater invertebrates that live in the creek.

      Education
