It meets all state educational requirements and credits earned are transferable. The kindergarten through 12th grade curriculum meets the educational needs of the children of long-term staff families. The school also accepts a limited number of boarding students. Teach in the beautiful wilderness of the Cascade Mountains! Lake Chelan School District has a remote K-12 Teacher position available at the Holden Village School for the 2018-19 school year. Holden School at Holden Village is designated as a Remote and Necessary School in the state of Washington and the individual who fills this position will live in a remote community of intention in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. Over the course of 50 years, Holden has been transformed from a copper mining town to a vibrant place of education, programming, and worship amidst the wilderness of the Cascade Mountains. Hosting thousands of visitors from around the world each year, Holden welcomes all who seek contemplation and community. The strong community brings people together through daily rhythms of work, recreation, shared meals, and worship rooted in the Lutheran tradition. Holden enables individuals of all ages and walks of life to reflect on the beauty and gift of ordinary life.
 
Familiarity with the Village and/or experience is preferred for this admittedly unique and remote position, but is not necessary.

Qualifications to Include:

  • A current Washington State Teacher’s Certificate and K-8 or K-12 Endorsement
  • Working knowledge of Common Core State Standards (CCSS)
  • Ability to plan and implement instruction for individual or small groups of students based upon Common Core State Standards across the content spectrum as well as electives
  • Collect and utilize data for frequent ongoing progress monitoring systems to inform instructional decisions
  • Effective organizational and time management skills
  • Strong communication skills to work with students, parents, staff, and Village community
  • Trustworthy and responsible to complete duties in unique work environment
  • Experience clustering multi-grade instructional groups
  • Special Education and/or Highly Capable experienced teachers encouraged to apply
