Thank you for your interest in volunteering/working on staff at Holden Village! For more than 60 years, Holden Staff and Volunteers have served as the backbone of Holden Village, giving of their time and talents to create this place of welcome. If you have a few weeks, months, or years in which you are looking to experience something new, Holden might be the place for you. Holden Village offers a variety of employment and volunteer positions with various time commitments.

SHORT TERM VOLUNTEER positions - requires a 2+ week commitment. This position receives room and board in exchange for their work, and additional benefits depending on the length of stay. Applications for short-term positions are accepted throughout the year and availability for each position varies.

SEASONAL HEAD VOLUNTEER positions - are leadership positions that require a 3+ month commitment, typically between May and September only; however, we are now accepting seasonal head applications for Head Cooks and a few other positions year-round. These positions receive a small stipend, room, board, utilies, and other benefits commensurate with length of stay.

LONG-TERM VOLUNTEER positions - require a 1+ year commitment. These positions receive a stipend, room, board, utilities, insurance, and other benefits.

EMPLOYEE positions - require a 2+ year commitment. These positions receive a salary, room, board, insurance, and other benefits. 

SEASONAL HOURLY positions - require a commitment for the entire summer season (June - September). These positions are all Downlake fron the Village (near Field's Point) and receive an hourly rate of pay.

CONTRACTOR positions - Holden seeks local individuals to assist with skilled labor on-call. Contact staffing@holdenvillage.org if you live in the area and are interested in serving as a contractor.

FAMILIES - Families with kids 15 and under have the opportunity to work on short-term staff in the summer through our Family Work Option. For families interested in being on staff for 1+ years, please first contact staffing@holdenvillage.org to inquire about this possibility. Housing for families is limited and availability for families to be on staff varies over time. During the off-season, at this time we do not have the capacity to support short-term staff with kids 15 and under.

1/2 Work 1/2 PAY POSITIONS - Half-work, half-pay is an option available only in the off-season (September-May) with the exception of the month of January and the major holidays. We ask for a minimum of 1 week stay for returning staff, and 2 weeks stay for new staff. Please contact staffing@holdenvillage.org to determine position availability before you submit an application.


How to Apply for a position

1. All adult applicants (age 18+), must email the following documents to staffing@holdenvillage.org: Staff Application; Release Waiver & Code of Conduct; & Staff Agreement. **If you have submitted an application to Holden Village in the previous or current calendar year, please contact staffing@holdenvillage.org to verify which other application materials you may need to submit!

2. Complete, save and email the Heath & Wellness Form to medic@holdenvillage.org for each adult applicant and for each child. **a new Health & Wellness Form must be submitted annually

3. Send the Reference Form to the individuals you listed in your Staff Application. Ask them to either email their completed form staffing@holdenvillage.org to or mail the paper form to Staffing, HC0 Box 2 Chelan, WA 98816.

4. If applying for a Summer Seasonal Head, Long-Term or Employee position, please also email your Resume and the FCRA Disclosure Form to staffing@holdenvillage.org.

5. Once we have received all your application materials, we will notify you that your application is complete. Applications are processed by Staffing Leads and a committee and may include a phone or video interview. It normally takes 3-4 weeks for a decision to be made about short-term positions, and longer for positions with long-term committments. If you have any questions, concerns, or would like to check in about your application, please email staffing@holdenvillage.org any time during the application process.

Holden Village carefully follows federal, state, and local guidance for maintaining health and wellness throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. All Holden Staff must be fully "up-to-date" on all publicly available COVID-19 vaccines. All guests must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Mask requirements change based on current health and safety recommendations, so be prepared to meet this requirement at any time as Holden Village continues to response to changing situations. Please read more about our Community Health Protocols and Practices.
