There are many families interested in working at Holden during the summer, but we have very limited space for ½-time workers and non-working family members. Holden is interested in having as many families come as possible, so the current system was created to maximize the number that can serve throughout the summer. We’ve structured the summer so that three families can serve at the same time for one, two-week commitment. We’ve noticed in the past few years that this also facilitates friendship between the children of both families.
The weeks in which we can accept families are based on the Narnia (children’s program) and the Miners/Jr. Miners (youth) programs, which provide supervised structured activities for children and teens for part of the day.

Yesterday, our community said goodbye to five people...who have profoundly shaped this community and the lives of all who pass through it from the vacationer to the long-term staffer.

The wall hanging from Augsburg which read, “I have called you by name, you are mine” was placed on the back of the toilet tank --- at eye level.
