For matins this morning Steph Carpenter reflected on the devastation in Haiti. We have prayed for those affected by the immense quake, yet we know that is not enough. Questions of "why?" linger. Feelings of helplessness and frustration confound our most certain beliefs. Inspired by a prayer from Herb Brokering,* Steph offered words for those whose questions remain unanswered:

Let us pray.
Jesus, I need to lay my fingers in your side and touch your wounds. I need a lot of proof for a little while. Where are you; who are you; are you?
Help us God to accept it is part of our human experience to find ourselves in the colliding between certainty and doubt. Lead us and deliver us.
Amen.
