Ceramics Immersion

The Ceramics Immersion is focused on studying the different approaches to vessel construction as well as the transformative qualities inherent within the creation and firing process. It is geared toward the beginner and intended to inspire and empower participants to later find a studio near them. On arrival day, we will tap into intentions for the week ahead. There will be a production glaze firing early on, where participants can glaze a professional piece. Throughout the week, there will be scheduled instruction during the day. Participants will explore two handbuilding techniques as well as wheel work. Project completion is entirely upon the participant depending on their determination to create pieces to take home. Projects made during the week will get bisque fired (unglazed).

Each person should bring their own journal or sketchbook and clothes that can get messy.

Studio Fee

$45 studio fee per participant. Additional costs based on number of pieces glazed and fired. Glaze prices on production pieces range from $12- $30, and bisque pieces will cost $2/lb.

Instructor

Kate Egolf has been living and working as a potter for five years. She grew up a Hoosier and received her BFA at Wittenberg University. She has spent the last two years at Holden Village, where she values exploring the connection of technical, emotional, and spiritual capacities of the clay.
